Covering the complete development cycle

The XperiDesk Suite supports the complete development cycle of high tech production processes. The figure depicts a typical development flow. This flow is in the form of a circle to show that the results of previous research and development project are used in new projects.

In the first phase of the development cycle the system helps to browse the company knowledge to check the feasibility of new ideas. Here the search and browse functions in all parts of the XperiDesk Suite play out their strengths. Once an idea is approved a new design can begin. In this phase the XperiCipe system offers definable libraries with materials, process steps and even complete process modules. All these libraries can be used to create new materials, process steps and process flows.

After the creation of new processing instructions the XperiFication system offers a detailed check of processing rules. The This enables every engineer to find critical errors in processing sequence before sending it to the review board and thus saving time and unnecessary review cycles. XperiSim system goes one step further and enables the structural simulation of processing sequences providing an interface to 2D or 3D simulators. The engineer can “have a look” at the device under construction before the experiment even started – without needing to be a simulation expert. Both modules together are key players in the camLine's strategy to avoid costly mistakes in R&D.

Finally the XperiLink system supports the tracking of the real experiments. Data can be linked together (like wafers, lots, experiments and their images) and searched for. Together with the abilities of XperiShare system this tool helps to manage the company knowledge and to make the knowledge transferable to new engineers and to other production sites.
