Product Liability
To meet the requirements regarding product liability one must be able to track back the complete manufacturing process, including all used materials and process parameters. Whether product, semi-product or raw material - the hard-core issue remains always the same: How, where or when what has been consumed?
Documented Manufacturing
This issue is of general significance in respect to a complete documentation as expected by ISO 9000ff or VDA 6.1. And it becomes a present-day issue in the case of quality losses resulting in expensive returns or recalls as they are known in automobile or telecommunication industries. In the case of a sue for damages the manufacturer has to account for all issues relevant to product liability, i.e. to answer the same question asked above by furnishing facts.
Lean Recalls
An answer can only be satisfactory with a homogeneous and complete product documentation. Without reliable recording system employees are often challenged as private detectives searching for charge numbers, goods receipt numbers, process indexes etc.. The enormous effort of such examinations can be saved by using an MES (Manufacturing Execution System). The MES provides all information relevant to product or process traceability, and the employee just needs to put appropriate requests.
Irregular Work Flows without Obstacles
The MES of camLine is flexible enough to handle alternative manufacturing flows. "Irregular work flows" such as rework, reflashing, samples, returns or intermediate scenarios in case of changes can be performed with full support of the required traceability. Materials can even be handled on packing unit level as a subunit of a goods receipt number, i. e. they can be reserved or locked with an individual expiration date. The carrier management design is flexible enough to uniquely arrange all transport media such as cassettes, printed circuit boards (PCB), work piece holders, repositories, components, or pallets, for example.
