Statistical Tolerance Calculation

With statistical tolerance calculation, you will create more robust or cheaper designs.

Statistical Tolerance Calculation for Engineers

In manufacturing, statistical tolerance calculation is crucial for creating more robust and cost-effective designs. This course provides engineers with the knowledge and tools to calculate tolerances using statistical methods, offering a more accurate representation of production variability than traditional approaches.

With Cornerstone software, engineers can easily simulate distributions and integrate statistical tolerance into their design process, improving early-stage planning and the ability to meet customer specifications.

Optimize Design and Process Robustness with Statistical Tolerance Calculation

This training is specifically designed for engineers involved in construction and development. It covers a wide range of methods, from understanding key distribution types to simulating tolerance calculation using statistical models. By applying these techniques, engineers can assess process capability and industrial feasibility more effectively, resulting in better process control and the ability to design more robust or economical systems.

Course Details

Statistical tolerance calculation offers a more accurate understanding of production variability compared to traditional tolerance limits, allowing for realistic early-stage assessments of customer specifications and identifying critical variables.

This course covers the key principles, including assumptions about input variable distributions derived from production or Cpk data, and models linking input variables to target values based on design, DoE, or process insights.

Participants will learn how to use Cornerstone software to replace Gaussian error propagation with distribution simulations, including handling special cases like truncated and mixed distributions. The course also demonstrates how integrating DoE with these simulations leads to more robust and cost-effective process designs.

Course outline:

  1. Statistical basics
  2. Steps in statistical tolerance calculation
  3. Designing trial plans
