Value Proposition for Recipe Object Partitioning and Linking

With the increasing complexity of recipes on manufacturing equipment, we need to devise ways to efficiently manage the recipes and their components in a recipe management system. The data model used to model the recipe components can affect the total number of recipe objects that need to be managed and in turn affect the overall effort needed to manage and maintain these recipes. We explore two opposing types of recipe models: the Consolidated Recipe (CR) Model and the Partitioned Recipe Object (PRO) Model. The CR model encapsulates all recipe components into one object while the PRO Model separates and shares common recipe components. In this paper, we explore how the total number of recipe objects scales between these two models as the number of recipes and tools increase.
